An international non-governmental organization (NGO) based in New York City with operations across the globe was looking for a way to gain real-time insight into syslog data, reduce the need for custom scripts and correlate unstructured machine data which resides in multiple systems. The need for centralized real-time monitoring solution is to bring operational and digital intelligence across its complex infrastructures which is being used by business to execute their different processes & functions.

They were already using Salesforce to manage and host business operations. By integrating Splunk with Salesforce, Webuters enabled the business to monitor all operational activities, use extensive reports and dashboards to manage data, analyze trends and user behavior and enhance the security.

Challenges and Discussion

The business was facing some major challenges that we discussed and addressed.

Absence of a centralized log management system was the key challenge. Salesforce was con-integrated with systems, where all the systems generate (system / security /event) logs on the respective devices making it tough and tedious to manage logs. Business data protection was another major challenge that customer was facing. The business needed the best approach to collection, analyze, prioritize, group, visualize, and report security related data to understand and take actions on the data threats.

Major data source that were used in this integration were Salesforce, Classy Fundraising system, DocuSign, DocGen and Other SaaS Database, Endpoint logs, Operating system logs, and other business operations data.
